Run for the Oceans

Design Objective

To create an interactive and educational experience for attendees of the Parley Ocean School x Adidas annual 5k marathon event. The goal was to raise awareness about the impact of plastic waste in the ocean, while also providing an immersive and entertaining experience.

Design Concept

A custom shipping container build was used to create an immersive environment that resembled a deep chamber within the ocean. The container was fitted with seamless wall-to-wall video panels and mirror surfaces for the floor and ceiling to create an infinity mirror effect. The interactive experience used scanning LIDAR sensors to track the participants' movements and touch interactions, and this data was used to drive a real-time visualization of flocking fish and a fluid simulation. A collage of information and footage about the deep ocean and plastic waste was also displayed on the screens.
