What is AV System Integration?
AV system integration is the work of making separate technologies behave as one system — work our Portland, Oregon team delivers on events and installations nationwide. Audio, video, lighting, interactivity, and control each arrive from different vendors with different protocols — integration is the design, infrastructure, and programming that binds them together so a single cue can move every department at once. You need integration whenever a project combines more than one technical discipline — which is nearly every experiential build. A projection-mapped room with spatial audio and reactive lighting isn't three systems; it's one experience. Without deliberate integration, you get three teams, three timelines, and a show where the pieces never quite land together. Integration done well is mostly invisible infrastructure: clean signal flow, sensible network architecture, labeled racks, and control logic that lets an operator run a complex show from one surface. It's the difference between technology that supports the creative and technology that competes with it.
Common Applications
What BEATROX Provides
BEATROX integrates the full technical stack: system design and specification, signal flow and network architecture, rack builds and cable infrastructure, control programming across DMX, Art-Net, sACN, MIDI, and timecode, and on-site commissioning with calibration and testing. Because our designers, fabricators, and technicians work as one team, the AV is integrated into the scenic and structural design from day one — not threaded through it afterward. We've unified complex systems for demanding clients. On The Great Escape for Adidas in Los Angeles, integrated AV drove a complete product launch experience, with audio, video, and interactive elements operating as a single environment. Projekt X for Adriatique's worldwide 'X Future' tour required deep integration inside a custom-fabricated aluminum stage element — DMX-addressable edge-lit LEDs recessed into the structure itself, pixel-mapped and laser-mapped, designed to fly in any orientation and reassemble identically in every city. And for BuzzFeed's NewFronts at Moynihan Station, we integrated media server playback, individually mapped projection orbs, and full lighting programming into one programmed show flow on a custom-built stage.
How We Work
- 01Discovery — We map the experience goals, venue, and every system in scope
- 02System Design — Signal flow, network architecture, and equipment are specified as one design
- 03Build & Pre-Rig — Racks, cable, and control surfaces are assembled and tested off-site
- 04Installation — Infrastructure is installed, terminated, and labeled on site
- 05Commissioning — Systems are calibrated, cues are programmed, and failover is tested
- 06Handover & Support — Operators are trained and documentation is delivered with ongoing support

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between AV rental and AV integration?
Rental gets you equipment; integration gets you a system. Integration covers the design, signal flow, control programming, and commissioning that make separate technologies operate as one — whether the gear is rented, purchased, or already installed.
Can you integrate with equipment we already own?
Yes. We regularly design around existing inventory and venue infrastructure, adding only what's needed to unify control and fill capability gaps.
Do you handle permanent installations as well as events?
Both. Permanent work adds long-term requirements — maintenance access, monitoring, documentation, and operator training — which we build into the design from the start.
Who runs the system after integration?
Your choice. We can staff operators for the event or run of show, or train your team and hand over a documented system they're confident running independently.
