FLIR history on the wall

LIDAR

Body-triggered timeline

Design Objective

To showcase FLIR's historic milestones and achievements through an interactive media display that engages and informs the public about the company's technological innovations. The display was designed to create a unique and memorable experience for visitors at FLIR's headquarters in Washington, DC.

    Design Concept

Inspired by Apple's iconic springboard app launcher in macOS, the interactive media display uses FLIR's recognizable 'Iron Bow' thermal imaging gradient as a visual language throughout — keeping the experience deeply on-brand. LIDAR scanners allow participants to control the timeline with their physical body through entirely touch-free interaction. The display uses AI and computer vision algorithms to parse sensor data and generate unique IDs for each individual, enabling multiple simultaneous interactions without interference. The screens react to the presence of people passing by and invite them to explore a library of video content and animations related to FLIR's history — making every visit a discovery.
