What is Staging & Rigging?
Staging and rigging is the structural backbone of any live experience — work Beatrox engineers and installs from Portland, Oregon for concerts, festivals, and brand events nationwide: the platforms performers stand on, the overhead systems that suspend lighting, video, and scenic elements, and the engineered connections that keep all of it safely over an audience's heads. It's equal parts construction, engineering, and choreography. You need professional staging and rigging whenever weight goes over people: concert stages, festival structures, suspended installations, hanging signage, or free-standing video walls in public spaces. Venues, insurers, and fire marshals all have requirements — and a qualified rigging team is how you meet them without compromising the creative. Rigging done right is invisible and boring in the best way: nothing moves that shouldn't, nothing sags, and the show runs exactly as designed. That outcome comes from load calculations, rated hardware, and experienced hands — never improvisation.
Common Applications
What BEATROX Provides
Beatrox provides staging and rigging as part of a complete build package: stage platforms and decks, truss and ground-support systems, suspension of scenic and display elements, load planning, and venue coordination — installed and struck by crews who understand both the structural and creative sides of a show. Because our scenic, lighting, and AV teams work under one roof, rigging plots are designed around the actual show, not retrofitted to it. For AKU World in New York, produced for AKU + FTX, our scope included a custom-fabricated, large-scale helmet installation that guests could interact with — a hero piece that had to be safely integrated into a multi-room event environment alongside exterior signage. For the Infinite Playlist Tour with Amazon Music Live, we built and deployed festival activation structures at both Outside Lands 2023 in San Francisco and Stagecoach 2023 in Indio — including free-standing LED wall structures that had to stand up to outdoor festival conditions and heavy foot traffic across multi-day events. And for Super Bowl 2020, we transformed Ampersand Studios in Miami into Adidas's VIP headquarters, installing a free-standing LED wall and full venue treatments in a space never designed to hold them.
How We Work
- 01Site & Load Assessment — We survey the venue, anchor points, and structural limits
- 02Rigging & Stage Design — Plots, load calculations, and hardware schedules are documented
- 03Venue & Authority Coordination — We align with venue riggers, insurers, and inspectors
- 04Install — Stages, truss, and suspended elements go in per the engineered plan
- 05Inspection & Show Support — Every point is checked before doors; crew stays through the show
- 06Strike — Controlled derigging that protects both the equipment and the venue
Why BEATROX
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle rigging in venues that have their own house riggers?
Yes. We coordinate directly with house rigging crews and venue engineers, providing our load calculations and hardware schedules so everything integrates with the venue's requirements.
Can you build outdoor stages and structures?
We build and deploy outdoor structures regularly — our festival builds for Amazon Music Live ran across multi-day outdoor events at Outside Lands and Stagecoach, designed for weather and heavy public traffic.
How do you ensure suspended elements are safe?
Every suspension starts with load calculations and rated hardware, installed per an engineered plot and inspected before the audience arrives. We never improvise overhead.
Can staging and rigging be bundled with the rest of our production?
Absolutely — that's how we prefer to work. When staging, rigging, lighting, video, and scenic come from one team, the plots are coordinated from day one and load-in runs faster.
