What is 3D Animation & Motion Capture?

3D animation for live events is content that moves with purpose — characters, particles, simulations, and rendered worlds built by our Portland, Oregon team to play on screens, projections, and LED walls at productions nationwide. Motion capture takes it further: cameras and depth sensors track a real person's body and translate it into a digital performance in real time. You need these tools whenever the experience should respond to the people inside it. An AR mirror that mirrors your movements, a flock of fish that scatters when you reach toward it, an avatar minted from your own body scan — these moments feel like magic to guests, and they're powered by motion capture pipelines and real-time 3D engines. The difference between a gimmick and a memory is craft. Tracking has to be fast and stable, animation has to feel alive, and the system has to run flawlessly for hours of continuous foot traffic. We build the full pipeline: character and asset creation in Blender and Unreal Engine, real-time interactive programming in TouchDesigner, motion capture with Microsoft Kinect Azure, and AI and computer vision algorithms for gesture and body tracking. Deliverables range from rendered 3D content for screens and projections to fully interactive systems where guests' movements drive the animation live, complete with shareable digital takeaways. For Adidas at Super Bowl 2020 in Miami, we built an AR mirror on a free-standing LED wall: Kinect Azure motion capture and AI computer vision tracked guests' bodies and drove a real-time physics simulation they could play with — every guest left with a digital takeaway. Our exhibition work for Netflix, including Disenchantment at Comic-Con in San Diego, applies the same animation and interactive discipline to fan-facing brand worlds. And for product launches like The Great Escape for Adidas in Los Angeles, we bring the same motion and 3D craft to experiential moments built around a product story.
