What is Lighting Integration?

Lighting integration is the discipline of making every light-emitting element in a space — LED video panels, pixel tape, theatrical fixtures, interactive sensors — behave as one coordinated system, a discipline Beatrox delivers from Portland, Oregon on events and installations nationwide. It's not just hanging fixtures; it's designing the power, data, control, and programming layers that let all of it respond together. You need lighting integration whenever a space has to do more than be lit: when visuals must sync to live music, when a wall should react to a person's movement, or when an environment needs to shift mood on cue. Modern experiential work lives at this intersection — LED video, interactive media, and architectural light are no longer separate trades. Poorly integrated lighting is obvious: flicker on camera, mismatched color, cues that drift. Well-integrated lighting disappears into the experience — audiences just know the room felt alive. That outcome is engineered, not accidental.

What BEATROX Provides

Beatrox integrates lighting as part of the whole system: LED video panel specification and installation, addressable LED and pixel control, sensor-driven interactivity, show programming, and the power and data infrastructure that ties it together. Our programmers work in TouchDesigner and real-time engines, so lighting, video content, and interactive logic are designed in the same pipeline and calibrated together on site. For Run for the Oceans at Domino Park in Brooklyn, created for Adidas and Parley Ocean School, we fitted a custom shipping container build with seamless wall-to-wall ROE Black Pearl LED video panels and mirror surfaces to create an infinity-mirror light environment — with scanning LIDAR sensors driving real-time flocking and fluid simulations that responded to every participant's movement. For Destination in San Diego, built for Journey's x Adidas, we integrated the control layer behind a 40-foot interactive canvas: Arduino firmware, relay-driven mechanical valves, and TouchDesigner synchronization that translated a guest's button press into paint flowing down the structure in real time. And for The Great Escape, an Adidas product launch experience in Los Angeles, we delivered integrated creative technology and production workflows — the lighting, media, and show systems working as one.

How We Work

  1. 01Discovery & Creative Review — We learn what the space needs to do, not just how it should look
  2. 02System Design — Fixture and panel spec, control architecture, power and data plans
  3. 03Pre-Visualization & Programming — Looks and interactive behaviors are built before install
  4. 04Install & Integration — Hardware goes in alongside scenic and AV as one coordinated build
  5. 05Calibration & Rehearsal — Color, brightness, timing, and sensor response tuned on site
  6. 06Show Operation & Support — Our team runs and maintains the system through the event

Frequently Asked Questions

Can lighting react to people in the space?

Yes. We build sensor-driven systems using LIDAR, computer vision, and motion tracking — like the Run for the Oceans installation, where participants' movements drove real-time simulations across the LED environment.

Do you integrate lighting with LED video walls?

Constantly. We spec, install, and program LED video panels alongside fixtures and pixel systems so video content and lighting cues run from one show control pipeline.

Can you sync lighting to live music?

Yes — from timecode-locked programming to live operation, we sync lighting and media to performances. Our programmers build cues in advance and operate or support them on show day.

Do you handle power and data planning?

We design the full power and data distribution for the systems we integrate, coordinating with venue electricians so the install is safe, clean, and camera-ready.
